Becca D’Bus


Becca D’Bus, Singapore’s biggest drag queen is Eugene Tan, an artist interested in making meaning with entertainment, activism, garments, words and pleasure. In Singapore, Becca is best known as the producer and host of RIOT!, Singapore’s only regular drag revue, now every Saturday at Hard Rock Café. Becca is also an organiser and host of The Glory Hoes present, a queer film screening series at The Projector. 

Becca D’Bus and her brand of outrageous, activism-informed drag has been seen all over the world since she was created in Boston in 2005. Notable venues include: The NuYorican’s Poet’s Café (New York, NY), Jacque’s Cabaret (Boston, MA) Hamburger Mary’s (Cedar Rapids, IA). Becca has also performed with or been presented by: Singapore International Festival of Arts (2015 and 2023), Singapore Writers Festival (2015), NUS Arts Centre (2014), Teater Ekamatra (2014), T:>Works (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), The Finger Players (2022). 

In the United States, Eugene has taught queer activism in multiple universities, as well as worked in community engagement with communities of colour, of lower economic means, and underserved queer communities,. Eugene has been part of the organising committee of IndigNation, originally, Singapore’s Pride Season. In Singapore, Becca has worked with multiple corporations and organizations on their Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity initiatives.
