Award-winning short-film director Jean-Gabriel Périot makes his feature-film debut with A German Youth, an incisive documentary that traces the founding of the militant Red Army Faction and Baader-Meinhof Group. Making intricate use of archival footage, Périot examines the disillusionment of Germany’s first post-war generation as they come of age the end of the 1960s. As these young adults become politicised and, eventually, radicalised, A German Youth provides startling insights into violence, history and revolution.
